For years, OSCO has had the pleasure of hosting students for co-op, work term and summer placements from various institutions and programs including but not limited to Engineering, Information Technology, Human Resources and Accounting. During their placements, students would work within departments and small project teams to get valuable hands-on experience they could take with them back to school or as they take the next steps in their professional career.
In 2019, OSCO formalized their Student Engagement Program (SEP) to ensure the experience our students receive strategically aligns with their career interests, degree program expectations and the needs of the business. The Student Engagement Program gives co-op, work term and summer students the opportunity to engage with one another, with representatives from the human resources team, and with operations across the various lines of business within the Ocean Capital group of companies. Each SEP session focuses on a variety of topics customized for our students, providing insight into the company’s history and culture, tours of our operations, the tools we use to assess fit, and we also provide employability skills sessions (resume building, mock interviews, etc.) to help pave the path forward to their future.
